Safeguard
your transactions
Due
to incidents that have occurred,
we want to give you some
advice to help you safeguard
your transactions during
purchase or sale of used
equipment:
Be
vigilant when dealing with
someone abroad, especially
if the person is not a professional
(a dealer or agent).
Meet the person you are
dealing with before engaging
in a transaction. If you
do not want to travel, check
his/her name, address and
telephone number with the
help of Yellow Pages for
traders or The Phone Book
for private customers. For
international transactions
you can use The Infobel
Directory.
Do not ship a machine until
you have guarantee of payment.
Before depositing a cheque
in your bank account, contact
your bank to check that
the issuer of the cheque
is solvent and check that
the cheque has not been
stolen and is not counterfeit.
You should realise that
a cheque may be accepted
when deposited but then
debited against your account
several weeks later if it
has been stolen or is counterfeit
or overdrawn. Written agreement
from your bank will give
you a basis for a claim
in the event of a problem.
You should realise that
even a bank cheque may be
counterfeit.
If a machine is offered
to you at a price which
is much lower than its valuation
price, approach the transaction
systematically.
Before making a downpayment
on the purchase of a machine,
make enquiries about the
seller, by telephoning his/her
bank for instance.
Never send money using services
such as Western Union or
MoneyGram.
If a buyer suggests paying
you a sum greater than the
asking price, refuse to
deal with him/her at all.
Never make a downpayment
for goods that are meant
to already be in transit
somewhere.
If you ever have any suspicions
about an advertisement published
on our site, or if you receive
suspicious e-mails after
putting equipment up for
sale on our site, do not
hesitate to inform us of
this by using our contact
form or the link "Inform
us of a problem" available
on each advertisement.
